Because of the Mount Agung eruption on 25 November 2017, Bali International Airport, I Gusti Ngurah Rai, was closed for five days (from 27 November to 1 December 2017).
The airport was open again in 2 December 2017 as the Mount Agung stabilize and ash cloud clears up. Since then, the airport operates normally.
Indonesia mitigation agency (BNPB) stated that 98% of Bali remains safe for Holiday Makers. With only 2% of land mass marked as the hazard zone, a radius of 10 km to the North, Northeast, Southeast, South and Southwest of the crater.
Hilton Bali Resort in Nusa Dua, Badung, Bali is located 80 km from the Hazard Zone. As stated in official press release from Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, Geological Agency, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources: It is considered safe for travelling to Bali outside of the Hazard Zone.
